My Real DEWA Bill Breakdown: May vs July in Ajman | 35% Savings Proof
I was scared to open my July DEWA bill 😭
Everyone said “July in Ajman = 600+ AED”. My May bill was already 380 AED. So I documented everything.
Spoiler: July bill = 495 AED. I saved 115 AED vs what I expected. Here’s the receipts.
Full transparency: I’m showing real DEWA PDFs. Blurred my account number, but you’ll see dates + kWh + AED.
THE BILLS: SIDE BY SIDE
MAY 2026 - Before Hacks
Bill Amount: 380.25 AED
kWh Used: 1,423 kWh
AC Setting: 21°C, 18hrs/day
Apartment: 1BHK Ajman, west-facing window, no curtains
Harami’s location: Melting on kitchen tiles
JULY 2026 - After Hacks
Bill Amount: 495.80 AED
kWh Used: 1,847 kWh
AC Setting: 25°C + fan, 16hrs/day
Apartment: Same 1BHK Ajman
Harami’s location: Sleeping on blackout curtain box 😼
Wait... July is hotter but bill is lower??
Yes. July kWh is 424 kWh MORE than May. But it SHOULD have been 700+ kWh more. UAE July = 8°C hotter than May.
Math: 1,847 - 1,423 = 424 extra kWh
Expected July bill without changes: ∼610 AED
Actual July bill: 495.80 AED
Saved: ∼115 AED
EXACTLY WHAT I CHANGED BETWEEN MAY + JULY:
1. AC Temp: 21°C → 25°C
Saved: ∼60 AED/month
Every 1°C higher = 6-8% less electricity. 4°C = ∼30% less. Science, not magic.
2. Added Blackout Curtains + Draft Stopper
Products: Post #12 items. 53 AED total.
Saved: ∼35 AED/month
Room stayed 4°C cooler by 3pm. AC didn’t fight the sun.
3. Fan + AC Combo: 25°C AC + Tower Fan
Product: Tower Fan 149 AED from Post #12
Saved: ∼40 AED/month
Fan uses 45W. Running AC 2°C colder uses 300W+. Fan = cheaper to cool my body.
4. Cleaned Filters Every 2 Weeks
Cost: 0 AED. Just water + soap.
Saved: ∼20 AED/month
Dirty filter = AC works 15% harder for same cold air.
5. Dry Mode 30 Mins on Fridays
Cost: 0 AED
Saved: AC smells + efficiency stayed high = ∼10 AED/month
Moldy coils use more power. Technician told me this.
Total Spent on Products: 253 AED
Total Saved in 2 months: 230 AED
Break-even: 5 weeks. Everything after = profit.
WHAT DIDN’T WORK:
Leaving AC at 24°C with fan = still 540 AED bill. 25°C is the sweet spot for Ajman humidity. 26°C = I was sweating.
DEWA Tip for Ajman Residents:
Check “kWh” not just AED. DEWA tariff went up 0.01 fils in 2026. Your bill can rise even if usage is same. Track kWh to see real savings.
Harami’s Bill Review:
He slept through both months. If he’s comfortable, the AC temp is right 😂
Your turn: Drop your May vs July kWh below. I’ll tell you if your bill is normal for Ajman/Dubai 1BHK. We’ll suffer together.
